Fabric Strip Wreath

Easy to make wreath!
I learned how to make these way, way back in the day, in a galaxy far away,
with my friend Katie. I remember having one hanging in my room forever!

What you need
1. About a yard of fabric
2. Scissors
3. A Wire Hanger
4. Needle Nosed Wire Cutter/Pliers

Next determine what shape you want your wreath. Round, heart, square, whatever your heart desires, as long as you can make it from a single wire hanger, though I suppose you could connect hangers....
Anyway, here are two examples:
I was able to do most of the bending by hand but had to use the pliers to unbend the hangers pre-existing bends, if that makes sense. You may want to use gloves, I did not.

Now cut your fabric into strips. I cut mine about an inch and a half wide, then cut into 6 inch strips.
Now you will wrap the fabric around the wire.
First, fold your small strip in half the long way, so you still have a 6 inch strip, but instead of being 1.5" it's 3/4" wide.
It gets a little tricky trying to do this next part while keeping the fabric folded in half, but the wreath just turns out better when it's done this way, makes it look a little fuller. And if you are using a fabric with only one "right" side you are ensuring that that side will be up.
Ok, to wrap the fabric, create a U shape over your wire.
Then create a uterus.
Well, that's what it looks like after you pull your fabric back under the wire but over the U.
Pull Tight
Now just do this over and over until you fill your wire form.
When you can't seem to fit any more strips of fabric squeeze three more in,
then call it good. You want it tight.
I ended up using about 3/4 of my yard of fabric.
Then Hang! Fluff fabric once on the wall or door or wherever.
This is an easy/cheap project and can easily be made for changing seasons and holidays!
Plus you get to get rid of those horrible wire hangers.
No more wire hangers, EVER! Anyone? Anyone?

Happy Crafting!
